Sonoma State University is a public university in Rohnert Park in Sonoma County, California and  is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. It is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges.  It is ranked 34th in the list of the most beautiful colleges in the US. The university has six schools that offer programmes in 65 departments. The schools are School of Arts and Humanities, School of Business and Economics, School of Education, School of Science and Technology, School of Extended and International Education and School of Social Sciences.

The university offers a unique wine business programme and other courses in viticulture, owing to its proximity to vineyards. Individual programme accreditations are granted by American Chemical Society, National Association of Schools of Music, National League for Nursing, National Association for Schools of Art and Design, Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

SSU is a member of the prestigious Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges

Sonoma State University  is the only California member of COPLAC.

The University awards over $1.1 million in scholarships per year and 64% of students receive some type of financial aid.
