Langara College courses and programs were first offered in 1965 at King Edward Centre as part of Vancouver City College. The current site at West 49th Avenue in Vancouver has housed the programs since 1970.
Five decades later, Langara College is recognized as a leading undergraduate institution with a reputation for providing exceptional learning opportunities. Through the collective contributions of an outstanding faculty and staff, programs and services continue to grow and innovate to meet the changing needs of the community.
Langara College was established as an independent public college under the Provincial College and Institute Act on April 1, 1994. Langara is a public post-secondary college recognized as one of Canada’s premier University Transfer institutions. Langara offers university transfer, career, ESL and post-degree diploma programs that lead its students to successful academic and professional futures.
The Langara Campus is located in a park-like centrally located area of Vancouver, Canada, a city that is regularly recognized as one of the most beautiful and liveable cities in the world. Langara is located halfway between the Vancouver International Airport and Vancouver’s downtown core, making the location ideal for students who are interested in taking advantage of all the city has to offer.
Langara College was given the name snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ by the Musqueam people, which means “house of teachings” in the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ language. Langara is the first public post-secondary institution in BC to receive this honour.
International students are welcome at Langara, and the College offers outstanding programs and services to support their learning and enhance their overall student experience. Langara has a dedicated staff from all over the world who are trained, to meet the needs of international students throughout their whole journey at Langara.

Langara’s courses are recognized at Canada’s top institutions, giving Langara students a pathway that leads directly to a bachelor’s degree. Starting your university studies at Langara means paying lower tuition fees, studying in smaller class groups, and getting more attention from instructors, all while earning the exact same course credits offered by Canada’s best universities.
Langara School of Nursing has been named as “School of the Year” at the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association (CNSA) and the School of Management is ranked in the top 6 business schools in Canada. The college also offers a place to international students from 93 countries willing to study abroad in Canada.
The admissions at Langara College are selective. The applicants can expect admissions, given that they satisfy all the eligibility criteria and requirements adequately. 21,000 students study in the college in 2019 out of which, around 6300 are international students from various programs.
The institution is quite famous for its programs and inclination in Sustainability and Human Rights. Langara College offers more than 90 programs and over 850 courses. The college offers certificate, associate of science degrees, an associate of art degrees, diploma, and post-degree programs.
